Snowfield Development Corp (TSX: SNO) today announces that it has completed its first Phase II step out hole (SNOW: 9-05) at Mud Lake on its Ticho Project located in the Drybones Bay area, Great Slave Lake, approximately 60 km southeast of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. This vertical hole, drilled with the Titan Drilling Ltd. Longyear 38 drill, intersected approximately 3.5 meters of kimberlite between the depths of 13.70 meters and 17.26 meters. This hole is located 150 meters to the northwest of the Phase I drill locations. The overall distance between this most northwesterly kimberlite positive hole (SNOW: 9-05) and the most southeasterly kimberlite positive hole (Mud-5) is now 450 meters. The drill rig, having completed hole Snow: 9-05, has now stepped out a further 50 meters to the northwest and is currently drilling hole Snow: 10-5.
As detailed in the Company's previous news release (NR 05-03 - January 31, 2005), kimberlite was also intersected in the Mud-16 hole. In this hole, which was drilled from ice on Mud Lake, kimberlite was intersected immediately below lake sediments from 14.02 meters to 17.06 meters meters. The previous four Phase II holes, (Mud-12, Mud-13, Mud-14, Mud-15) all intersected kimberlite, except for Mud-12 which was abandoned at 13 meters due to adverse hole conditions. In hole Mud-15, drilled from ice on Mud Lake, kimberlite was intersected immediately beneath lake sediments while setting drill casing. This sub-cropping kimberlite was intersected from 16.8 meters to 19.8 meters. The Mud-12 through 16 holes were drilled by the smaller Longyear 26 drill.
The location of these holes and all previous holes drilled by the company are shown on the company's website. www.snowfield.com
Snowfield's Phase II drill program is designed to delineate the Mud Lake kimberlite and to facilitate the extraction of a 500-tonne bulk sample from this kimberlite. This bulk sample will enable the company to establish a preliminary diamond grade for the kimberlite.
Snowfield has retained Aurora Geosciences Ltd. to provide consulting services and independent project overview. Aurora Geosciences Ltd. will provide the services of Gary Vivian, PGeol, and Jim Robinson, PGeol, as qualified persons under National Instrument 43-101.
